Letter: Publish schedule of Sewage Plant Progress

What’s going on with the design for new sewage treatment plant and the associated line work? Is the joint commission monitoring the progress of the design? I see no agendas or planned meetings on the county website.

American Engineering is a fine firm and I applaud the County, Winnsboro, and the Commission moving forward but every engineer must be monitored. What’s the schedule for the progression of the design, the procurement process, the selection or bidding for the contractor, and the completion of the plant and the line work?

How can the commission monitor the progress of the design if they aren’t meeting? Maybe I missed something. When’s the next meeting? They should be meeting monthly at a minimum. Agendas and minutes should be posted on the county website. Meetings should be open to the public.

I believe the public would like to see a published schedule showing milestones and how the process is advancing on that schedule. Then we can feel confident that the project is staying on schedule. If this isn’t a public process then there’s likely to be a big surprise later on.

This project is very important to the citizens of Fairfield County. We would like to be kept informed as to what is going on.
