Branham claims 1st at SCISA state meet

COLUMBIA – For the second year in a row, Richard Winn runner Hayden Branham took first place at the SCISA Class A Cross Country State Championship meet.

Branham, a seventh grader, finished the Heathwood Hall course at 20:25.94, over two minutes faster than the second place finisher from Cross Schools.

Branham led the young Eagle team in their third place finish out of the seven teams competing. The Eagles scored 72. Our Lady of the Rosary, which claimed the Region title ahead of the Eagles last weekend, took first place with 45 points.

 Seventh grader Lillian Trapp finished in 11th place of the 59 runners competing. She finished the course at 24:47.05. Harmer Branham and Ada Bass finished in 21st and 22nd places, respectively, with times of 26:57.37 and 27:02.41. Addison Trapp rounded out the Eagles’ score in 40th place at 30:17.70.

The Eagle boys finished in ninth place out of 11 teams competing. Adrian Jackson led the team with a 42nd place finish out of 93 runners with a 22:14.46 time. Jeter Limperis-Mannara followed at 24:12.01 for 58th place. Colton Tanktrsley finished in 60th at 24:34.75. Stephen Limperis-Mannara (25:35.41), Carson Taylor (26:09.79), and Gable Cahoon (27:37.01) each finished with their fastest times of the season.
