BLYTHEWOOD – For the seventh time in a row (10th time in program history), Blythewood High School’s girls tennis team claimed the Region Championship.
The Bengals’ 5-1 defeat of Spring Valley on Oct. 5 sealed their top finish. They followed with another region win over Nation Ford on Oct. 9 to wrap conference play with a 10-0 record. Blythewood (14-3) defeated Brookland-Cayce on Oct. 10 in their final match of the regular season.
The #1 seeded Bengals open post-season play tonight in the SCHSL 5A playoffs, when they’ll play host to four-seeded Mauldin. The winner will advance to the next round of the single-elimination tournament on Oct. 24 to face the winner of Dorman/Dutch Fork.
