BLYTHEWOOD – After a first round bye, top-seeded Westwood’s volleyball team hosted Myrtle Beach last Thursday. The Redhawks (16-1) left no questions unanswered as they took down the Seahawks 3-0 with 25-18, 25-22, and 25-19 final scores.
Camryn Jeffery led the Redhawks up front with 16 kills and 10 blocks. She also had 2 aces. Maya Jones and Lilly Almada had 14 digs apiece. Aria Caldwell had 12, Damia Ellis had 11, and Keyonna Morgan and Jeffery had 10 apiece. Ellis had 22 assists.
The win leaves Westwood as one of the remaining eight teams left in the Class 4A SCHSL playoffs. They travel to top-seeded Lucy Beckham in Mount Pleasant to battle for a spot in the Lower State Championship game, which will be played on Oct. 31.
