CHESTER – Neither Richard Winn nor Fairfield Central’s cross country team claimed wins last Tuesday at Chester High School’s meet, but both schools had runners with top-three finishes.
The Griffins and Eagles competed with runners from Chester, Clinton, Emerald, Gaffney, Great Falls, Lewisville, Woodruff and York High Schools as well as Hawthorn Christian Academy, Laurens Academy and York Preparatory Academy.
Fairfield Central’s Hank White finished in third place out of 58 runners with a time of 17:41.78, just under eight seconds behind William Reid’s first place 17:34.91 mark for Clinton High School. Charlie Cody, also running for Clinton, finished just ahead of White in second at 17:38.04.
Richard Winn’s Hayden Branham clocked a 20:30.62 finish for second place out of 73 runners. Ava Shook of York High School finished ahead of Branham at 20:12.30.
Fairfield Central
Sidney Wilson had a season-fastest time of 19:32.05 for a 16th place finish. Parker Douglas clocked 21:47.41. Jesus Vazques and Brenton Mack finished Fairfield’s scores with 22:03.48 and 22:34.88 times respectively. Mack’s finish was his season-best.
SaKira Hayes was the Griffins’ top female finisher. Hayes time of 25:07.54 put her in 13th place overall. Teairra McDuffie ran a 28:02.60 for 34th place. Katriel Moore ran a 31:00.78, and Brittany Mack finished at 32:02.15.

Lillian Trapp finished at 26:52.78 for 21st place. Ada Bass followed at 27:09.47 for 27th place. Harper Branham finished 36th with a 28:08.59 mark. Branham was followed by Addison Trapp, who finished at 28:27.81 in 41st place.
The Eagles were scheduled to run at Mid-Carolina on Wednesday, but results were not available by The Voice’s press deadline. Richard Winn will host Fairfield Central and Midlands STEM Institute, among other teams, next Tuesday.
The Griffins will run in the Wendy’s Invitational in Charlotte on Saturday.
