WINNSBORO – Richard Winn hosted nine area and region schools for their first home meet of the season on Tuesday, including Midlands STEM Institute.
Richard Winn seventh-grader Hayden Branham led the way with a first place finish out of the 40 runners competing. Branham’s 19:59.40 is her fastest time of the season and her career- the first time she’s broken the 20-minute mark since she joined the program in the 2021 season. Her previous fastest time (20:21.64) was recorded at the Highlander Invitational on Sept. 9.
Lillian Trapp ran a 27:36.70; Harper Branham finished at 28:45.30; Ada Bass clocked 29:46.80; and Addison Trapp crossed the finish line at 30:17.70.
Adrian Jackson was the fastest runner for the Eagle boys. He finished at 22:51.80 for 14th place out of 54 runners. Jeter Limperis-Mannara finished at 25:24.40, and Stephen Limperis-Mannara had a season-best 26:04.50 finish. Colton Tanktrsley finished at 27:15.10, and Carson Taylor clocked a 29:26.40. Gable Cahoon had a season-best 30:20.20 finish.
MSI’s did not have enough runners to qualify team scores. Christopher Parker led the Mavericks at 23:45.60 for 21st place overall. Leahman Knotts finished at 31:27.20. Isaiah Pierce had a season-best 31:28.60 finish. Jake Younts finished at 39:00.50. Riley Evans was the sole female runners for the Mavericks. Evans finished at 37:32.30.
The Eagles are set to run in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic on Saturday and will turn to the SCISA 1A Region 4 meet on Oct. 18 in Winnsboro. MSI will run again on Oct. 25.
