COLUMBIA – Westwood High School principal Robert Jackson is among 23 principals statewide in the 2023-2024 Talent Matters Professional Develop Network for Principals, a year-long professional development network to become human capital leaders.
According to SCDE OEELD, principals in this prestigious network will learn together about human capital management and how to implement key strategies to attract, recruit and retain high-quality educators. Each month principals will focus on various topics including, the new teacher experience, teacher leadership, managing low performers and teacher absenteeism, teacher retention, workforce planning, and teacher selection.
“Learning about human capital management and implementing key strategies will provide us with the skills needed to improve outcomes for students and educators in Richland Two and districts throughout South Carolina,” said Jackson.
Urban Schools Human Capital Academy, a partner in this professional development, has developed toolkits that will guide the work of the principals. The principal network will meet virtually for 90 minutes monthly for eight months, from August 2023-April 2024.
Richland Two’s Longleaf Middle School principal Teresa Mingo will also participate in the year-long program.
