LEXINGTON – Blythewood’s girls tennis team got back into the swing of things at the Kathryn Kleckley Pre-Season Tennis Tournament on Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19.
Blythewood dropped Friday’s evening match against Oceanside (5-1), but returned Saturday to defeat Chapin 4-2 in the last of pool play.
The team entered the Silver Bracket, and claimed wins over Cardinal Newman and Camden to take the Silver Bracket Championship.
The Bengals opened regular season play with a Tuesday night match at River Bluff High School. The Gators took the match with a 4-2 final.
Blythewood returned to the court on Wednesday for their home opener against West Florence, but scores were not available at press time. They’ll travel to Ridge View tonight for their final match of the three-day stretch.
Next week Blythewood will travel to Irmo on Monday and Brookland-Cayce on Tuesday before hosting Ridge View on Thursday.
They are set to open conference play at Fort Mill High School on Sept. 5. Their first home region game will be Sept. 7 against Nation Ford High School.
They’ll play their final regular-season non-conference match against Irmo on Sept. 11, then follow with only region matches. Along with Fort Mill and Nation Ford, Clover, Rock Hill and Spring Valley round out the region.
