KEENAN – Fairfield Central’s Track and Field teams competed in the Region 4 Meet last week. Neither team finished in first, but four Griffins pulled top finishes.
Holmes highlighted the girls’ team with first place finishes in the 100m dash (11.89), 200m dash (24.43) and long jump (17-7.5). Holmes also finished third in 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 16.9. Jurnee Warren finished first in the 3200m run (14:20.66) and second in the 1600m run (6:18.96); she also placed fourth in the 800m run.
Other top finishers were Judeah Warren (2nd in 3200m run & 3rd 1600m run), Martia Kindard (3rd in discus), Teairra McDuffie (3rd in 3200m run and 4th in 1600m run), Katriel Moore (4th in 400m dash), Justus Warren (4th in 3200m run), Natalie Mickle (4th in shot put) and Kaiya Chappell (5th in 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles).
Hank White pulled first place in each of the events he competed. White’s 800m run (2:03.18), 1600m run (4:50.10) and 3200m run (11:09.92) were top of the day. He also finished in first with the 4×800 relay team, made up of White, Owen Wilson, ErDreus Walker and Derek Cammon. Antario James’ first place finish was in triple jump (40-9). James also placed fifth in long jump.
Other top finishers were Micaiah Chappell (2nd in 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles), Derek Cammon (2nd in 800m run & 3rd in javelin), Jamie Brown (3rd in 400m dash), Krishi Patel (3rd in 1600m run & 3200m run), Jayden Boyd (3rd in 200m dash & 4th in 100m dash), Darius Bookert (3rd in discus & 4th in shot put), David Rivera Basabe (4th in javelin), Kenyan Douglas (4th in 110m hurdles & 400m hurdles), Christopher Pearson (5th in 100m dash) and Jaquan Bates (5th in discus).
The Griffins will compete in Track Qualifiers on May 12. The 2A Track and Field State Finals will be held May 19 at Spring Valley at 5 p.m.
