COLUMBIA – Just under a week after setting a new personal and school record in the 100m dash, Tydarion Grier broke it. Grier upped the record with a new time of 10.76 to take fifth place in the 100m dash at Ridge View’s Twilight Invitational on March 31.
Grier’s run wasn’t Fairfield’s only highlight of the night. Standout Sharmelle Holmes pulled a first place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 11.73, just shy of the new school record (11.70) she had set on March 25.
Hank White set two new PRs at the Invitational: first in the 1500m run (4:18.16) for fifth place and then in the 3000m run at 9:55.15. He finished 13th in that event.
Antario James placed fifth for Fairfield in triple jump at 38-7.5. James also set a new PR in long jump at 19-9 for a 14th place finish on the day.
The Griffins competed at Westwood on Wednesday, but scores were not available at press time. They’re slated to compete in the All American Classic at Spring Valley this weekend before taking time off for Spring Break. They’ll return for Eau Claire’s Shamrock meet on April 18 and then travel to Lugoff-Elgin April 26.
