BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood softball team (11-6) got two big wins on the road last week, an 11-0 shutout at Dutch April 19 and a 7-0 Region 3-5A win at Rock Hill Thursday. The Bengals fell 2-0 at Nation Ford in another region game Monday.
Lauren Hardy pitched a 1-hit complete game at Dutch Fork, striking out six. She also went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in.
Raygan Segars had a home run, a double, and 4 RBI. Maya Van Zyl, Neilah Browne, and Makalah Ford also had two hits. Keeley Hughes doubled.
At Rock Hill, Hardy pitched five innings of 2-hit ball, striking out 4. Ashley Duncan pitched two hitless innings of relief.
Kylie Sanders went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI. Browne and Josie Smythe both doubled, with Smith batting in two runs.
At Nation Ford, Van Zyl got the Bengals’ only hit. Hardy gave up six hits in a complete-game effort.
Blythewood closed out region play against Spring Valley Wednesday. The Bengals play host to non-region A.C. Flora to close out the regular season.
The state softball playoffs begin Wednesday. Blythewood is currently ranked third in the region standings.
