BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood baseball team (16-3, 11-3 Region 5-3A) secured its fourth region championship in the last five years—with the Covid-shortened 2020 season being the exception—with a series sweep of Rock Hill last week.
Having beaten the Bearcats 7-2 April 17, Blythewood followed up with a 10-0 5-inning home victory April 19 and a 9-2 win at Rock Hill Friday.
Against the Bearcats April 19, Ben Blackwell pitched a 2-hitter through five innings. Alex Myers went 3-for-3 and Macon Leppert went 2-for-2 with a double and 4 RBI. Landon Penfield also had two hits and a double, and John Rollings had two hits.
Luke Duncan, Camden Watts and Carson Weathers pitched a combined 6-hitter at Rock Hill Friday, with Duncan striking out five and coming up with the win. Watts struck out two and Weathers struck out one.
