BLYTHEWOOD – The Westwood softball team defeated Providence 12-2 Thursday, fell 12-0 at Gray Collegiate Monday, and lost 10-2 to Region 5-4A opponent A.C. Flora Tuesday.
Leading 6-2 going into the seventh inning Thursday, the Redhawks tallied 6 runs in the top of the seventh to seal the win over the Panthers. Azaria Belton, Jada McConnell and Olivia Burroughs each had three hits. McConnell, Belton, Makayla Drakeford, Marguerite Ridgeway, and Izzy Ridgeway all hit doubles. Drakeford pitched a complete game, striking out 17 batters.
On Monday, the defending 2A state champion War Eagles 1-hit the Redhawks, with Belton’s single the only hit.
A Belton and T Harris both doubled Against Flora. Ridgeway had two RBI.
Westwood travels to A.C. Flora tonight.
