BLYTHEWOOD – Clover cut a Blythewood rally short as the Bengals fell 5-3 to their Region 3-5A rival Tuesday night.
The Blue Eagles led 3-1 going into the seventh inning and took a 5-1 lead, but the Bengals rallied for two runs.
Keeley Hughes led off the bottom of the seventh reaching on an error and Kylie Sanders was hit by a pitch. After Ashlee Hoile struck out, Lauren Hardy connected for a double, but Hughes was out going for home.
With two out, I’yanna Velez reached on an error that enabled Sanders to score and Hardy to reach third.
As Maya Van Zyl batted, Hardy stole home to make it 5-3, but Van Zyl grounded out to end the game.
Blythewood is at home against Rock Hill Friday.
