WINNSBORO – With their first senior class graduating in 2022 and a more established high school at Midlands STEM Institute, the Mavericks have expanded their athletic program.
MSI launched a volleyball program in the fall of 2022, and now they’ve moved on to basketball.
With wins over Carolina Christian Academy (69-51) and Riverwalk Academy (52-51 and 100-22), the Maverick boys sit at 3-2 in the season.
They dropped games to Providence Home School (51-31) and Lewisville High School (66-20).
The boys team is made up of three sophomores, six freshman and a seventh grader.
The Maverick girls fell 60-8 to Lewisville in early December.
Both teams will travel across town to Richard Winn on Friday. Tipoff for the girls is set for 6:16 p.m. The boys’ game will follow.
