LEXINGTON – Blythewood Cross Country’s season is officially underway. The teams competed in the Pelican’s Invitational on Tuesday at Lexington High School.
Out of 18 teams competing, Blythewood’s boys team placed sixth overall. Freshman Jacob Powell finished first for the Bengals and in 16th place overall at 17:54.50. He was followed by Spencer Shealy (21st) at 18:17. Eureka Washington (45th) and Karlin Hogue (46th) both finished under 20 minutes at 19:51.32 and 19:53.60 respectively. Tamja Lott was Blythewood’s fifth finisher at 20:55.68 for 68th place.
The Bengal girls finished seventh of the 18 teams. Freshman Anna Kelly crossed the line first for Blythewood, pulling a time of 21:25.28 for 18th place overall. Evan Pendleton (21:53.96) finished 27th and Kendall Shealy (22:17.13) finished 35th. Other finishers for Blythewood were Annabelle Manville (23:15.60, 52nd) and Mallorie Hogue (24:20.54, 63rd).
Blythewood will compete in the Eye Opener 2022 in Spartanburg on Friday.
