WINNSBORO – Richard Winn Volleyball hosted King Academy on Tuesday for their home opener and their first region game of the season.
Richard Winn took the first set 25-20, but dropped the second and third set 28-26 and 25-23. They won the fourth set 25-13 to force a fifth, deciding set. After an early lead, the Eagles fell behind and King took the 15-13 win.
The Eagles defeated York Prep 3-0 last Thursday with game scores of 25-13, 26-24 and 25-14.
Senior transfer Dani Goings led the Eagles with 7 kills. Freshman Abby Lewis tallied 4.
Junior Lila Smith and eighth-grader Sarah Hughes each had four digs on the night. Hughes had 7 assists.
Tuesday’s loss drops the Eagles to 2-1 on the season. They host Lewisville High School in Winnsboro tonight (Aug. 25) at 5 p.m.
The Eagles face more region action next week. They travel to Anderson Christian for a Tuesday night game and will host Wardlaw Academy on Thursday.
