BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood girls soccer clenched the top spot in region 4-5A with a 3-0 win over Ridge View last week.
With no score at halftime, Blythewood tallied three in the second half to beat the Blazers 3-0. Freshman Avery Pegram and juniors E Christensen and Scarlett Pegram had a goal each. Madison Powell, Sarah Speed and Christensen had assists.
On Tuesday, Blythewood took down Northwestern in their last home game of the season. Ten players had goals in the 12-0 win. Powell and Speed had two goals. Lakin Green, Avery Whisenant, Lauren Adams, Christensen, Sage Tudryn, Megan Tarnawsky, Pegram and Ava Pirich all had one goal.
Mallorie Hogue, Powell and Whisenant had two assists. Pegram, Adams, Christensen, Ira Daquioag, Tarnawsky and Pegram had one assist apiece.
The win over Northwestern was Blythewood’s (13-4) eighth in a row and put them at 7-0 in the region. They have one remaining region game to be played at Northwestern on Friday.
The Bengals’ only losses of the season have come at the hands of Chapin (twice), Fort Mill and AC Flora; three of those losses were by only a one-goal margin. Blythewood has outscored its opponents 72-12.
Tonight, the Bengals travel to Lexington for a 6 p.m. match against the Wildcats. Lexington currently sits at 12-3-2 on the season.
The Class 5A state playoffs are set to begin on May 3. Blythewood will host the first round.
