BLYTHEWOOD – The Westwood softball team overcame a 3-2 deficit with a four-run fourth inning and a five-run fifth inning in an 11-3 rout of North Central Monday night at Westwood.
Makayla Drakeford had two doubles, and Koreena Scott (2-4), Azaria Belton (2-3) and Jada McConnell (2-3) each doubled for the Redhawks.
Drakeford pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up four hits and striking out 7.
Monday’s win comes after Westwood softball won its first tournament championship Feb. 26. The Redhawks fell 5-3 to North Central, but beat Lee Central 15-0, North Central 12-0, Hammond 10-0, and Lewisville 5-1.
Westwood (5-1) played host to Fairfield Central Tuesday night and is at Rock Hill Monday.
