Westwood and Blythewood student councils were among the five Richland 2 high school student councils to receive awards at the South Carolina Association of Student Councils state conference.
Westwood received an Honor Council Gold Award and placed third in Leadership Activities and third in Recognition. Senior Aniya Knighter was inducted into the Terry McCoy Leadership Hall of Fame.
Blythewood received the Silver Honor Council Award and placed first in Fundraising Project Award and third in Community Service Award. Bengal student body president Sofie Fridriksson was also inducted into the Terry McCoy Leadership Hall of Fame. Additionally, Blythewood Student Activities Director Lisa Ellis was recognized for ten years of service as a student council advisor.
The high schools will learn if they have won awards from the National Student Council in April.
