LEXINGTON – Fairfield Central took to River Bluff on Tuesday for a meet against Brookland Cayce, Eau Claire and River Bluff. The Griffins had a handful of first place, season best and top 5 finishes on the day.
For the girls, Sharmelle Holmes finished first in the 200m dash with a season best 25.59 and first in long jump with another season best, 18-0.25. Holmes also placed third overall (first for the Griffins) in the 100m dash at 13.35.
Tamerra English also had a season best first place finish in javelin at 88-8. She also placed first for the Griffins, third overall in 100m hurdles at 18.84.
Jamie Downs finished first for Fairfield and third overall in the 1600m run with a season best time of 6:53.87. Downs also placed fourth in javelin with a season best 61-6. Teairra McDuffie followed closely for a fifth overall finish and season-high 7:28.97 time.
In the 100m hurdles, JaKara Evans had a season best time of 23.61 for fifth place overall.
The girls 4x100m relay team finished first place with a time of 52.56, a season best. The 4x400m relay team finished fifth at 5:24.52.
Joshua Mosley and Jai Boyd pulled the only first places finishes for the Griffin boys. Mosley finished first in the 1600m run at 4:51:55. Boyd finished first in high jump (5-8) and long jump (19-9.25), both with season best scores. Mosley also placed fourth in the 800m run with a season-high 2:17.21.
Donovan Watkins finished first for Fairfield and in second place overall in the 100m dash at 11.49 and fourth overall in the 200m dash (24.23), both his fastest times of the season.
Hank White finished second in pole vault with a season-high 8-0 and at 5:46.05 in the 1600m run for fourth place overall.
Micaiah Chappell placed third in both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles with times of 21.85 (season best) and 1:19.88.
Derek Cammon placed third in pole vault at 6-6 and fifth in the 800m run with a time of 2:27.33.
The Griffin boys had two relay teams finish in third, the 4×100 relay had a time of 47.78 and the 4x800m relay team finished at 9:20.25, their season best. The 4x400m relay team finished in fifth place with a season-high time of 4:08.46.
