The loss drops the young griffin team to 14-4 on the season, with a 4-3 record in region play. Their only losses on the season have come to Cuthbertson (15-7) in a holiday tournament, Lower Richland (18-4) and defending state champion Keenan (19-3), who is currently undefeated in region play.
The Diamond Hornets also took down the Griffin boys on Monday with a 61-32 final. The loss drops Fairfield to 4-14 on the season.
The Griffins are set to host Lower Richland for their final game of the regular season tonight.
The South Carolina High School League’s class 3A playoffs are set to begin on Feb. 17. With their current third place standing in the region, the Griffin girls will likely face the two-seed from Region one, possibly Easley (12-11), on the road in the opening round of the playoffs. The Griffin boys’ place in the region and playoff plans are still to be determined.
