BLYTHEWOOD – Town Administrator Carroll Williamson announced at Monday night’s town Council meeting that that Council has hired a new town attorney, Ginny L. Merck-Dupont, following the resignation of Shannon Burnett last fall.
A native of Greenville, Dupont is an associate of the Talley Law Firm in Spartanburg, She graduated from the University of South Carolina and from Loyola University of Law in New Orleans, LA.
Dupont has been regularly practicing law in both private and government practice since 2000. She most recently served as county attorney for Spartanburg County from 2011 to 2021.
According to town “officials, Dupont will attend all regular council meetings and will otherwise work for the town on an as needed hourly basis. Her rate for the Town meetings will be a flat $200 per regular meeting and otherwise, $200 per hour.
Dupont thanked council for their trust in her service as the Town’s attorney.
“I’m delighted for the opportunity to serve as your attorney,” Dupont told council members. “I’m honored to be able to take this position,” she said.
She began work this week.
