WINNBORO – Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill has been elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME). His term on the 8-member board began Jan. 1, 2022.
The IACME conducts educational seminars for the purpose of assisting Coroners and Medical Examiners and other forensic specialists across the country in the performance of their duties.
“The IACME board’s main responsibility is to provide accreditation to the nation’s coroners’ offices,” Hill said. “There are a number of committees that I will choose from to help coroner’s offices get their national accreditation. It’s very important work – there are about 300 standards that must be met for accreditation – and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
Hill, a Fairfield native, says his background experience from working in the Fairfield County Sheriff’s office, the rescue squad and as a volunteer fireman has contributed to his successful work as the county coroner.
Hill is married with four children and three step children. His wife LaToya works as a nurse practitioner.
Hill is serving his sixth year as the Fairfield County Corner.
