BLYTHEWOOD – The Civitan Club of Greater Blythewood was chartered in Blythewood last week during a charter celebration at the Windermere Club.
Presentation of the charter was made by SC District Governor Richard Gay to President Chris Eaker. According to Eaker, the worldwide mission of Civitan International is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.
“Our charter members include local business owners, retirees, YMCA associates, law enforcement officers, college students, and government representatives who want the opportunity for fellowship while giving back to our community,”Eakers said. “Anyone who joins in the month of December will still become a charter member.”
The Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., the second Monday of each month at Scottie’s restaurant.
“Each month we will plan community service projects open to members and volunteers to participate as available,” Eaker said.
