BLYTHEWOOD – Spring Valley rolled to a 31-0 before giving up Blythewood’s first score midway through the third quarter, and the Vikings closed out a 45-21 win at Blythewood’s District Two Stadium.
Harrison Collins connected with Anthony McCullough for an 83-yard touchdown pass play for the first score. Another long pass play set up Desmond Boatwright’s 4-yard touchdown run with five minutes left in the game to make it 38-14.
The Bengals (3-5 overall, 0-3 Region 4-5A) scored again in the final two minutes, before the Vikings returned the kickoff for a touchdown to close out the scoring.
D.Q. Smith passed for 193 yards and three touchdowns as Spring Valley (6-2, 3-1) clinched second place in the region behind Northwestern (8-1, 3-0). Blythewood is in fifth place.
The Bengals, in fifth place in the region, close out the regular season at home versus third-place Ridge View (3-4, 1-2) Friday.
