COLUMBIA – The Richland Two Board of Trustees is set to vote on proposed attendance line changes at its regularly scheduled Oct. 26, 2021 meeting. The changes were proposed at the Aug. 24 Richland Two school board meeting. If approved, they would go into effect for the 2022–2023 school year.
The impacted schools are Bethel-Hanberry Elementary, Langford Elementary and Lake Carolina Elementary Lower and Upper Campus. Round Top Elementary attendance lines will change but there will be no changes in the number of students attending the school.
District administrators have proposed attendance line changes in order to address overcrowding at some schools and accommodate for residential growth. The district held several meetings in September for parents regarding the proposed changes
The following subdivisions will be effected by the changes in attendance lines:
- Blythewood Crossing Subdivision, Blythewood Crossing Apartments, Summer Pines Subdivision, Windfall Subdivision and North Pines Subdivision are slated to be moved from the Bethel-Hanberry Elementary attendance zone to the Langford Elementary attendance zone.
- Hunters Run Subdivision, Crickentree Subdivision and Baymont Subdivision are slated to be moved from the Langford Elementary attendance zone to the Lake Carolina Elementary (Lower and Upper) attendance zone.
- The Falls subdivision is slated to be moved from the Round Top Elementary (RTE) attendance zone to the Lake Carolina Elementary (Lower and Upper) attendance zone.
