FAIRFIELD CENTRAL – The Griffin boys pulled a third place finish on Oct. 6 at Lugoff Elgin High School. Joshua Mosley finished first of 69 runners with a time of 17:49.51. Hank Whit e(18:37.16) finished in 10th place and Nygel Woodard (18:42.79) finished in 13th. Sidney Wilson placed 27th with a time of 20:43.89 and Malachi Woodard 39th at 20:55.92. Rylan Woodard (21:06.76) and Krishi Patel (27:08.58) also ran for Fairfield.
Kensley Green finished first for the Griffin girls at 23:54.28 for 20th place overall. Other Griffin runners were Teairra McDuffie (27:50.65), Jamie Downs (29:45.81), Gianna Rhodes (30:09.30) and Maiya Sloss (30:10.74) .
In the Bob Jenkins Coaches’ Classic on Oct. 9, Green finished first for the girls at 25:47.84. McDuffie had a time of 28:39.20, Rhodes finished at 30:26.43 and Downs 31:10.38.
The Region meet is set for Oct. 26.
RICHARD WINN – Richard Winn Cross Country took to Chester for a second time this season on Sept. 28. The girls’ team finished third out of five schools, behind first place Clover and second place York Prep. Great Falls and Chester rounded out the field.
Hayden Branham finished first for the Eagles and in fifth place overall with a time of 22:28. ILeanna Derrick followed closely in seventh place at 23:04.00. Hannah Britt (29:48.00), Caitlyn Talbert (30:08.00), Ella Grace Harrison (33:36.00) and Haley Autry (34:57.00) also clocked time for the Eagles.
Seventh grader Noah Britt finished first for the boys with a time of 28:17, followed by Carson Taylor (33:34.00) and Jackson Johnson (36:51.00).
Britt finished first for the boys again on Oct. 7 at Lancaster High School, this time with a time of 28:56.09.
Derrick was the first female finisher at Lancaster, placing second overall of 34 runners with a time of 24:16.49. Hannah Britt followed at 30:15.33. Other finishers were Harper Branham with a time of 31:03.40, Talbert at 34:49.56 and Autry at 37.39.50.
Richard Winn hosted Midlands STEM on Tuesday, but scores were not available at press time. The team is set to compete at the SCISA 1A Region 1 meet on Oct. 18.
MIDLANDS STEM – Midlands STEM Institute competed with 7 other teams at Chester High School on Sept. 28.
James Talbert finished first for MSI’s boys with a time of 25:38. Calvin Kowalke followed closely at 25:45.00, Trent Bullard at 25:58, Eli Moore at 26:26, and Isaiah Pierce at 28:28. Also running were Michael Lucas (30:43) and Kenneth Atkerson (37.01).
Junior Mya Kawolke was the school’s lone female runner. She finished in 37th place overall at 31:03.
Midlands runners headed across town to Richard Winn on Tuesday, but scores were not available at press time. They are set to run in Camden on Oct. 20.
