BLYTHEWOOD – After finishing out their regular season games with win streaks, Blythewood and Westwood volleyball teams look to go deep into playoff territory.
Up first, top-seeded Blythewood hosted a four-seeded Boiling Springs team on Wednesday, but scores were not available at press time. The winner advances to an Oct. 25 game to face the winner of Wade Hampton/Woodmont.
Westwood (#2) is set to host Walhalla (#3) tonight at 6 p.m. in the first round of the Class 4A SCHSL State Playoffs. The winner will face top-seeded Greenville on Oct. 26 in Greenville.
The Bengals wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 final at Ridge View, their seventh win in a row. Jala Dixon led Blythewood with 13 kills, followed by Kaitlyn Hardy with 10 and Krista Edwards with 9. Senior Macy Collins had 30 assists, 7 aces and 4 digs.
Blythewood went 7-1 in conference play and finished the regular season with a 15-6-1 record.
Westwood capped a three-game streak with a 3-0 win over Richland Northeast on Oct. 14. The Redhawks finished with an 8-2 4A Region IV record and an 11-5 overall record.
