Only one apology was needed tonight. That should have come from R2 board chair Teresa Holmes for not knowing how to conduct a meeting. The primary person who was wrong tonight and who was the direct cause of the early end of the meeting was Teresa Holmes. She couldn’t make the correct decision that Mrs. Agostini’s secondary motion was exactly germaine to the primary motion.
She must have almost no knowledge of procedures and Robert’s Rules of Order.
Trustees Agostini, Scott and McFadden were right to walk out. That was the only way they were going to stop the effort to ram through a raise for the superintendent on short notice and insufficient information.
Caution-Parker’s comments were completely out-of-order, and she should be sanctioned for referring to the departure of Trustees Agostini, Scott and McFadden as “stupid and ignorant” and “derelict [sic] of duty”. Somebody might urge her to read Board Policy about such comments.

I urge Trustees Agostini, Scott and McFadden not to attend the Sept. 22 Special-Called Board Meeting. Then there will be no quorum, and the superintendent’s raise cannot be considered until the Regular Meeting on Sept. 28.
Why? It’s all in his wording of his request: “It would be the recommendation of the superintendent for the board chair to consider a special-called board meeting with only the superintendent’s contract on that board meeting…”
What kind of nonsense is that?
HE is the superintendent. He is speaking about himself. He’s not talking about some wizard behind the curtain. And why isn’t he putting the students first and the important issues ahead of his own desire for increased compensation?
Actually, unless ALL FIVE LEGAL trustees show up, there won’t be a quorum. Holmes and McKie have never taken the oath of office legally and are, therefore, not legitimate board members. And, since they aren’t board members, they can’t be board officers!
