COLUMBIA – Richard Winn Academy football kicked off preseason with a Saturday night jamboree game at Heathwood Hall against New Hope Leadership Academy.
The 8-man teams faced off in a two-quarter contest with a running clock.
The Eagles took commanding lead of the game. With junior Landon Caulder under center, the Eagles tallied two touchdowns and two-point conversions in the quick 16-6 win.
Caulder connected with junior Rob Wilson and sophomore Drew Spires for touchdowns.
The Eagles look to replace 11 seniors who graduated after a 6-3 state-title-run season in 2020 that ended with a runner-up trophy.
Richard Winn opens regular-season play with a non-conference game on Friday, Aug. 27 on the road at Conway Christian. They’ll host their first home game on Sept. 3 against Faith Christian Academy. Kickoff for both is set for 7:30 p.m.
