BLYTHEWOOD – The Park at Blythewood, the town’s newest apartment building, is now on the ground but is a still months away from move-in day.
“Our target day is now March 22, 2022,” the project’s construction manager Garri Steed told The Voice in a phone interview on Monday. “We’ve been delayed some because of COVID. We’re having a hard time getting construction materials right now. It’s a huge problem getting windows, appliances, air conditioning units, everything,” he said.
The 48-unit three story apartment building is a 55+ senior living facility being built by Atlanta-based Prestwick Companies, which is also the developer of The Pointe at Blythewood, a low-income apartment complex on Main Street in downtown.
“We will start taking applications three months prior to the construction deadline,” Steed said. He said he comes to Blythewood at least once a month to walk the site with the lender.
“It’s looking good,” he said. “Except for deliveries being delayed, everything else is going fine. We’ll be ready on March 22.”
