LUGOFF – Blythewood girls soccer picked up their seventh region win of the season on Monday with a 6-1 takedown of Lugoff-Elgin.
Megan Tarnawsky struck first for Blythewood with a goal early in the first half. Lauren Hendry put in the Bengals’ second goal, and Tarnawsky added a third before the half to give Blythewood a 3-0 lead.
Tarnawsky added another to start the second half. Evelyn Wright and Meredith Stone capped Blythewood’s scoring onslaught for the 6-1 final. Wright had two assists on the night. Sarah Speed, Maya Moran and Hendry each had one.
Macy Moran had two saves in goal; Brook Sanders had one.
The Bengals seventh win comes fresh off of a 6-0 shutout of Ridge View last Wednesday.
Stone and Tarnawsky each had two goals in the win. Macy Moran had one. Wright had two assists; Hendry, Tundryn and Madison Powell had one apiece. Sanders had two saves.
The Bengals, who clenched the Region 4-5A title last week with a win over Spring Valley, will face Northwestern tonight.
