HOPKINS – Fairfield Central competed in Lower Richland High School’s Diamond Hornets Invitational on Saturday.
Joshua Mosley was a highlight for Griffin runners as he placed sixth in the 3200 meter run with a time or 10:03.09. Stepheno Gadsden placed fourth in long lump at 18-1. The Griffins’ 4×100 relay team finished in the top ten with a time of 45.46.
Fairfield traveled to Eau Claire on March 4 for the Shamrock Meet with Brookland Cayce, Eau Claire and Lower Richland.
Natalia Gray placed first in the 100 meter dash finals at 13.58 and tied for first with Griffin runner Sharmelle Holmes in the 200 meter dash, both with times of 28.66. Holmes placed second in the 100 meter dash with a 13.63 finish. Gray also finished first in long jump at 13-9.
Tamerra English placed fourth in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash. Kensley Green placed first in the 800 meter run finals and 1600 meter run finals with times of 3:03.53 and 6:40.82. SaKira Hayes (3:06.52), Jamie Downs (3:15.94), and Celysha Jackson (3:25.55) finished in second, third and fourth place sin the 800m run. Hayes and Downs also placed second and third in the 1600 meter run.
The girls 4×400 meter relay team also finished first.
Joshua Mosley pulled two first place finishes in the 800 meter (2.15.15) and 1600 meter run (5:55.32) finals. Jai Boyd finished first in long jump at 19-4 and Joseph Tolbert placed first in shot put at 34-6. Stepheno Gadsden finished second in long jump and Gerald Roach placed second in shot put.
Tydarion Grier (11.66), Stephen Gadsden (11.69) and Donovan Watkins (11.73) finished in third, fourth and fifth places in the 100 meter dash. Tydarion Grier placed third in the 200 meter dash at 24.32. Evelino Reyes-Hawes placed third in the 400 meter dash at 1:01.12.
The boys 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams both finished in second place.
Mosley, a junior, represented Fairfield Central in the Dorman Distance Carnival on Feb. 20. He placed fourth in the 3200 meter run with a 10:24.39 finish.
The Griffins were set to compete at Lower Richland on Wednesday, but scores were not available at press time.
