BLYTHEWOOD – The second annual Doko Rib Fest Cookoff, sponsored by the Town of Blythewood will be held this Saturday, March 13, in Doko Meadows Park
There are to be three competitive cooking divisions, each with entry fees and trophies presented to the winners. Total prize money distributed per division as follows: 20 professional teams – $3,600, 30 amateur teams -$2,700 and 10 veteran teams – $900.
Rib Cook-Off competition will commence with standard portions of ribs passed out at 6 am to contestants on the day of the event in the farmers market field. Judging by Southern Barbecue Network judges is to commence at 1 p.m. with winners announced at 4:30 p.m.
A fenced-in tented area (with tables. seating, and ‘stand-up” tables) will be provided in the farmers market field for judging and rib tasting. Wristbands for personal tastings of the competing team’s offerings are available for $20. A full rack of ribs is $20; rib plates (3 ribs, coleslaw and barbecue beans) are $10.
Musical acts will perform from noon until 10 p.m. at Palmetto Citizens Amphitheater. They include:
Commontime Bluegrass Band Mason Horne, Justin Anderson and Maddie Rean Band.
There will be food trucks, specialty food and sweets vendors, as well as activity vendors. Beer with an additional fenced in VIP tented area (with tables, seating, and “stand-up” tables) will be provided adjacent to the amphitheater near the entertainment.
