WINNSBORO – With only one blemish on their all-but-perfect season record in the form of a two-point heartbreaker to Newberry, the Lady G’s rolled over region foe Mid-Carolina for the second time this season. Hosting the Rebels last Friday, the Griffins (5-1, 4-0) blasted Mid-Carolina to the tune of 45-28.
Eighth grader Zanariah Yarborough led Griffin scorers with 14, followed by Deasia Feaster with 12 and Tahalia Collier with 9.
The win was the Griffin’s fifth of the season, fourth in conference play. With only two opponents remaining, wins next week against Keenan will put Fairfield in prime position for a region title. Keenan (7-2, 3-0) looks to defend their 2020 region and state titles.
After games against Keenan on Feb. 2 and 5, the Griffins will close regular season play against Lower Richland on Feb. 8 and 11.
The Griffin boys wrapped up their series with Mid-Carolina the week of Jan. 5, falling 45-35 and 51-21 to the Rebels.
