BLYTHEWOOD – Students from Blythewood High School (BHS) participated in the 55th Annual National Career Development Association Poetry & Art Contest.
Students were encouraged to submit either poetry or art which reflected the theme “My Future Career-Imagine the Possibilities.”
First, second, and third place winners from Blythewood High School were sent to the state contest with the potential for advancing to the National Contest. First place was awarded to Cora Weems for her poem “My Future Career.” Second place went to Kellie Wyder for her poem “Above the Clouds and Beyond.” Third place went to Derrian Berry for his “I Will Create – I Will Not Be Tethered” artwork. Honorable Mention was awarded to Ariana Parker and Ellajoyce Humphries.
“Our students are very talented and could possibly place at the State and National levels,” Karen Ruff, BHS Career Specialist, stated. Ruff spearheaded the competition at BHS.
