ROCK HILL – Blythewood fell in a tight 3-1 match at Rock Hill High School last Thursday.
The Bengals fell behind early with a 21-25 first set, followed by a 25-17 loss in the second set. With a momentum shift, they took the third set with a decisive 25-14 win, but came up short with a 25-20 final in the fourth set to end the game.
Anissia Wong led the Bengals with 13 kills and 5 blocks, followed by Jala Dixon with 10 kills and two aces and Karlese Sears with 9 kills. Dominique Black added four kills and Kaitlyn Hardy tallied two. Skyler Anton had 14 digs and 28 service receptions, Abbie Slatton had 12 digs and Dixon added 10. Setter Macy Collins had nine digs, one block and 23 assists. Ayden Stevens had two aces. Taylor McDaniel, Hardy and Black were all credited with two blocks.
The Bengals bounced back from Thursday’s loss with a dominant 3-0 win over Spring Valley on Tuesday. The Bengals took the first set 25-15, the second 25-14 and the third 25-7. Stats for the game were not available at press time.
Blythewood is set to host Ridge View tonight and will play host to cross-town rival Westwood on Oct. 13.
