WINNSBORO – Fairfield County will host its first annual county-wide job fair for several industries in the community, including MLILY, Isola, Element, the SC Highway Patrol, PruittHealth, Mekra Lang and the Fairfield County School District.
The fair will be held at three separate locations in the county – Winnsboro Recreation Center, Mitford Recreation Center and Jenkinsville Recreation Center. All three will be held at the same time, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Sam Hodges, assistant to Fairfield County Economic Director Ty Davenport, and Dianna Robinson, WIOA Director (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) explained that all the jobs can be applied for at each of the three centers, so applicants only need to apply at one of the three locations.
Each company will have marketing materials available at all three centers as well as a representative or a county representative will be there to explain what jobs are available and to answer questions.
“Application forms for all the jobs will be available at each center,” Hodges explained. “The county will take the completed applications back to the companies. The companies will then go through the applications, sort them and decide who they want to call back for interviews.”
County Administrator Jason Taylor said the jobs aren’t limited to the eight industries listed.
“We’re open to any employer in the county that has job openings,” Robinson said. “If they want to do interviews there, they can. The possibilities are endless. We’re just trying to do everything we can to get our citizens employed and put Fairfield County on the map.”
Working with the county to promote the job fair are MidlandsWorkforce, the Department of Social Services, the SC Department of Employment and Workforce and SC WORKS.
