COLUMBIA – The Blythewood girls went 1-1 in the AC Flora Tip-Off last week. Blythewood faced tournament host AC Flora in Saturday action and put the Falcons away with a 39-33 final.
A tight first quarter left the Bengals on top with a 14-10 lead, but Blythewood extended it to 22-13 at the half. Flora found its offensive foothold in the third period to close the lead 30-25 heading into the final period, but Blythewood held on for the win.
The Bengals faced Irmo in the second round of the tournament on Monday. Blythewood held a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Irmo shut out the Bengal offense in the second, outscoring Blythewood 20-0 for a 31-12 lead at halftime.
Blythewood recovered some in the third quarter, but the Yellowjacket lead was too much and Irmo took a 60-28 win.
Blythewood tipped off their season on Wednesday at Richland Northeast, but scores were not available at press time. The Bengals host Ridge View in their first home game of the season on Friday.
