Town tree lighting set for Sunday
BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood Christmas Tree Lighting is set for Sunday, Dec. 1, from 5 – 6 p.m. in the front yard of Town Hall.
The Christmas season officially begins in Blythewood with the annual lighting of the town’s Christmas tree. Music will be provided by Vance & Jeannie Sharpe, The Trinity UMC Children’s Choir, Macedonia Baptist Choir and, Free Way Music students. Invocation will be by Rev. Eddie Davis from Little Zion Baptist Church, and Santa will be on hand to visit with children.
The evening will culminate with the lighting of the town Christmas tree by former University of South Carolina women’s golf coach Kristi Coggins who was recently inducted into the USC Athletic Hall of Fame.
The community is invited, and refreshments will be served following the event.
Other Holiday Events
The Christmas Parade will follow the next weekend, Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. Deadline for entries is Saturday, Nov. 30. To enter a float, to become a parade sponsor or for more information, email BlyParade@aol.com
Residents of Blythewood, Ridgeway and Winnsboro are also encouraged to Shop Small on Saturday, Nov. 30.

More Parades
Ridgeway’s Christmas on the Ridge events kick off with the annual Christmas Parade on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m., and a tree lighting with free carriage rides, music, Santa and shopping on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 – 8 p.m.
Then more festivities on Sunday, Dec. 8. Following Blythewood’s Christmas Parade at 3 p.m., the Winnsboro Christmas Parade will float through downtown Winnsboro beginning at 5 p.m., followed by the town’s tree lighting and visits with Santa.
