COLUMBIA – Blythewood Boys Cross Country took second at last week’s Region 4-5A Meet, finishing with an average 18:11 time, just behind Spring Valley.
Christian Pearson was the first Bengal finisher with a time of 17:13.33, good enough for third place. Daniel Turnipseed finished in seventh with a time of 17:55.26, and Michael Stevens finished eleventh at 18:09.61. William Lenker finished at 18:26.17 for 13th place overall. Andrew Sullivan, Naitonio Hare and Chris Kouneski rounded out times for the Bengals in 20th, 22nd and 23rd places of the 35 runners.
The Bengal girls finished with a 25:15 average time for fifth place of five teams. Mallorie Hogue finished first for Blythewood and in 14th place overall of 35 runners with a time of 22.15.39. Hannah Mcgrory pulled the Bengals’ second best time of 25:21.47 for 23rd place overall. Blythewood’s Brooke Barker, Caroline Barnes and Madison Wakefield finished 24th and 26th and 29th overall.
The Bengals will run in Saturday’s State Qualifier meet in Camden, hosted by Spring Valley. Girls run at 9 a.m. and boys at 9:30 a.m. Qualifying runners will move to the State meet on Nov. 16.
