BLYTHEWOOD – Cementing themselves in school history – that’s what Westwood Tennis has done in this historic season. Not only did they top the region for the first time in school history, they did so in a dominating fashion. The Redhawks wrapped up the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record after a 6-0 win last Thursday against wrapped up the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record after a 6-0 win last Thursday against Richland Northeast.
Kyndall Ragins, Meera Rogers, Kelsi Sharpe, Erin Mines, Sara Haeflinger each picked up wins in singles. A win by doubles duo of Cherokee Bradshaw and Jasmine Alexander-Coleman rounded out the defeat of the Cavaliers.
Westwood powered their way through the schedule, defeating opponents with a season total 65 set wins and 15 losses.
As a result of their seat atop the region, Westwood received a first round bye in the 4A state playoffs. They will play their first match at home on Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
