BLYTHEWOOD – Westwood’s offense struck early and often in their regular season home finale against Lancaster last Friday. The Redhawks pummeled the Bruins on both sides of the ball in their 46-0 win.

Nick Gilliam’s 60-yard run and successful two-point conversion put Westwood up 8-0 with just over 10 minutes to go in the first quarter. A Lancaster turnover on downs was quickly converted into 14-yard touchdown pass from Ahmon Green to Cam Atkins. Another successful two-point conversion put Westwood up 16-0 at the end of the first.

Christian Horn was the next Redhawk to find the end zone. Horn, who has missed the season because of a foot injury, caught a pass from Green for his first touchdown of the season with just under two minutes to go in the half. Westwood went up 24-0 after a two-point run.

The second half saw more Redhawk domination on both sides of the ball. Two Westwood interceptions by Zikef Johnson and Quan Oree in the third quarter set the Redhawks up for two more touchdowns and a 40-0 lead. Westwood struck again with two minutes to spare in the third to put the game at its final score of 46-0.

Green threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns to Atkins, Horn and Xorian Dobey. Green also tallied over 100 yards on the ground.

The Redhawk defense allowed only 146 yards of offense. CJ Johnson led the defense with 18 tackles, followed by Sean Artiss with 12. Johnson’s interception was his fifth on the season.

The win moves the Redhawks to 6-3 on the season, 2-2 in region action. They travel to Richland Northeast on Friday to wrap up the regular season.

Westwood looks to move to 3-2 in region play with a win over the Cavaliers, who sit at 0-10 on the season.
