BLYTHEWOOD – The Greater Blythewood Chamber’s Oktoberfest brought cool weather, all things German and about 2,000 people – some sporting dirndl trachten and lederhosen – to Doko Park on Saturday.
With fall temperatures in the lower 70’s, rollicking polka music wafting through the park, cows with colorful headdresses dropping poop worth thousands of dollars, two biergarten tents and 12 food trucks including one serving German specialties, it was a fun time in Doko park.
“I want to thank all the volunteers and especially my assistant Erin Weiford-McMaster for helping put this together. It was a big effort for a lot of people, but it was a very successful event and I think it brought a lot of entertainment to the community,” Interim Chamber Director Phil Frye told Chamber members at the group’s breakfast Tuesday morning. “We appreciate all those who attended and enjoyed it.”
Sponsors for the event were The Town of Blythewood, McNulty’s Taproom, Mekra Lang North America, Founders Federal Credit Union, Buck, McDaniels Volkswagon, Constantia Flexibles, JTEKT, Koyo, TOYODA and Watercrest Senior Living Group.
