BLYTHEWOOD – With wins over Lugoff-Elgin and Sumter, Blythewood Volleyball has all but put a bow on their wrapped up a Region title.
The Bengals traveled to Lugoff-Elgin on Tuesday for a decisive 3-0 win over the Demons. They took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-22.
Blythewood trounced Sumter on Oct. 10 with 25-8, 25-16 and 25-22 scores. Colleen Finney notched 10 kills, 3 digs, 3 assists and 3 aces. Brooke Thomas had 7 kill and 3 aces. Lauryn Coleman finished the match with 6 kills, 4 digs and 2 aces. Sophomore Macy Collins had 22 assists, 5 aces, 3 digs and a block. Junior Skyler Anton led with 6 digs.
Blythewood has defeated Sumter, Irmo and Lugoff-Elgin twice in regular season action and will play their season finale at home on Thursday against Spring Valley. Blythewood will honor seniors Colleen Finney, Lily Thomas, Lauryn Coleman, Fabienne Johnson and Brooke Thomas in their final home match of the season.
The Bengals (24-5, 7-0) look to sit atop of the 5A brackets with a home match on Oct. 24 after their run through conference play.
