COLUMBIA – Blythewood volleyball won big over Spring Valley last week, thanks in part to some heavy hitting by senior Clemson-commit Colleen Finney, who racked up 26 kills in the win over the Vikings.
Spring Valley looked to give the Bengals their first region loss of the season when they took the first set by a tight 25-23 margin. Blythewood regrouped between games and took game two 25-19. The Bengals continued to improve on their scores throughout the night, taking game three 25-15 and game four by a decisive 25-13 margin to snag the 3-1 win.
Brooke Thomas tallied 14 kills and 4 blocks in Blythewood’s rout of Spring Valley. Lauryn Coleman had 13 digs, 10 kills, 4 aces and a block. Sophomore setter Macy Collins was credited with 46 assists in the win.
Blythewood powered their way through region foe Irmo on Tuesday night with wins of 25-8, 25-9 and 25-10 to remain undefeated in conference play.
The Bengals will host two of their remaining conference three matches. First, Blythewood faces Sumter at home for a Dig Pink match on Oct. 10. They will travel to Lugoff-Elgin on Oct. 15 and close out regular season play with Spring Valley at home for senior night on Oct. 17.
