BLYTHEWOOD – In Biblical terms, it was a night to behold, complete with a multitude.
The VillageChurch outdid itself two years ago when it hosted a musical event in Doko Park for the entire community. There were 10 food trucks, 3 game tents, 2 bounce houses, a big slide, 2 balloon tents, a popcorn machine, a Christian rock band, perfect weather plus a family-friendly tethered balloon ride that took event guests 100 feet into the air. An estimated 3,000 people attended.
Everything but the food trucks was free.
Now, get ready for more of the same, but a little different. The church is planning another big musical bash in the park this Friday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m. but without the balloon ride. This year’s special feature will be a superhero movie, Spiderverse, in the park along with live music, and an abundance of food trucks where attendees can purchase dinner before the movie.
Again, everything except the food trucks are free. Popcorn is free, too, for those who clip the popcorn coupon out of The Voice (p. 3) and redeem it at the event.
“We just want everyone to enjoy themselves in this great park,” VillageChurch Pastor Erik Estep said. “This is a great venue. I think it will be lots of fun. There’s a playground, lots of great food trucks, fun things for the kids and our live Village Band,” Estep said. “We just hope everyone will come out and enjoy the evening with us.”
Sponsored by the VillageChurch (located at 574 Rimer Pond Road), the event will be held in Doko Park at 170 Langford Road in Blythewood.
