BLYTHEWOOD – Westwood Tennis is off to a 4-0 start after defeating Lugoff-Elgin a second time on Sept. 10 and Brookland Cayce on Sept. 16.
Kyndall Ragins defeated Erin McCarley 6-0, 6-1. Meera Rogers beat Lindsey Mills 6-2, 6-3. Erin Mines won 6-0, 6-2 over Ella Haudenshild. Kelsi Sharpe rounded out singles victories with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Alicia Werden.
Westwood’s duo of Cherokee Bradshaw and Jasmine Alexander-Coleman defeated Lugoff-Elgin’s Olivia Van Houten and Jenna Henry 6-1, 6-1 to give Westwood the 5-1 win.
The Redhawks were slated to host Fairfield Central on Sept. 12, but the game was cancelled because of threatening weather.
Westwood took down Brookland-Cayce High School 4-2 on Monday. Ragins took a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kelsy White. Rogers defeated Katie Welch 6-2, 7-5. Sharpe beat Riley Moore 7-5, 6-4, and Sarah Haeflinger rounded out the singles with a win over Callie Grace Burgess 6-1, 6-0.
The Redhawks took down Ridge View on Tuesday in their first region match of the season. The 6-0 sweep saw wins from Ragins (6-0, 6-0), Rogers (6-2, 7-5), Mines (6-0, 6-0), Sharpe (6-0, 6-1), Haeflinger (6-0, 6-0) and doubles partners Bradshaw and Alexander-Coleman (6-4, 6-1).
Westwood will travel to South Pointe for their next conference match today.
