SPARTANBURG – Blythewood Cross Country competed in the Eye Opener on Sept. 13 at the Roger Miliken Center.
Blythewood boys finished in 22nd place out of 32 schools. Christian Pearson topped Bengal runners with a 17:10.30 finish, good for 33rd place of 311 runners. Daniel Turnipseed finished next at 18:04.30 and Michael Stevens at 18:33.40. Andrew Sullivan finished with a 19:11.80 time, William Lenker at 19:19.20 and Sam Cathcart at 19.21.90.
Blythewood Girls finished in 17th place. Out of 162 runners, seventh grader Mallorie Hougue finished first for the Bengals in 65th place with a time of 22:28.10. Madison Wakefield followed at 23:33.70.
Blythewood will host the Bengal Invitational at Blythewood High School’s new cross country course on Sept. 28. Girls Varsity will begin at 9 a.m. and Boys Varsity at 9:30 a.m., JV Girls and Boys will race at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Awards to the top 10 in each division will be given at 11:15 a.m.
